I told him that I will read SICP, and he said I'd be bored at 2nd chapter. He says learning brainfuck is more enlightening and SICP is overrated.

Is he right? Or what he says is bullshit?

Since you are posting this instead of reading actually reading SICP, I can also say you will get bored before 2nd chapter. It never hurts to learn new things, same goes for brainfuck.
