What does /prog/ think about decision theory, and this years new advances in the field, including Timeless Decision Theory and Anthropic Decision Theory?

I studied decision theory in a university, and it seemed like every method in the end boiled down to a step where you pulled stuff out of your ass (like probabilities or possible outcomes). Honestly I see the whole field is not about making decisions, but instead about making decisions seem like they've been made objectively and methodically, while in reality you just made the decisions subjectively based on a gut feeling or you blindly followed the random result of some algorithm that you fed random numbers.
