monad-embed is a toy functional programming language for experimenting with a new way of using monads.

I don't understand monads.  I'll just stick to my first-class closures and mutable state.

YES!  Another toy language!  This is what the world needs!

How many characters does it take to invert a matrix?

What do you mean by how many characters? Do you mean how many characters to implement a monad that will invert a matrix?

Ooh, interesting metric for programming languages spotted.

Nah, because you'd have to include the characters in all the function calls, as well as all the source code to the interpreter.  Otherwise, you could just write an interpreter that supported a keyword "I" that means "invert matrix."

But then you'd have to include the source code of the compiler that is intended to compile the source code of the interpreter, as well as the hardware description language sources of the machine that the compiled code is intended to run on.
