Best Open Source Software

Name: Anonymous 2011-08-30 8:55

This is a BOSS thread, let's see what turns out to be our favorite open source software. For me, it's definitely GIMP, the gnu image manipulation software. You can get it at http://www.gimp.org/

Go back to boards.4chan.org/xml, ``please''!!

What I really meant with this is that GIMP sucks, it's just that you've got an awful sense of humour. In fact, I shoud not had even add the spoiler to my post, as it's such common knowledge that gimp sucks donkey dickie.

Back to /b/, please.

I dislike OSS, especially those projects I'm personally involved in developing. Someone will always come up to you and tell you - ``Hey man, your software is shit, it crashes like every minute, man!'', even though his kernel is broken, his userland environment alpha quality and other software packages crash frequently on his machine. I'm talking about FC-16 alpha - fuck you, Fedora.

vim. inb4: charityware = shit and Uganda must die anyway

Name one thing that Photoshop can do and the GIMP can't do.
You can't.
You're just too lazy to learn the interface and to configure a window manager that follows the standards.

Yeah, I hate it when some asshole finds a bug in my flawless work of Art.  I solved it by setting up a bugtracker with a bot that insults reporters and closes bugs randomly.

Really? I thought Ulrich Drepper was a real person.

This is open-source. Stop bitching about missing features and implement them yourself.

Name: Anonymous 2011-08-30 12:26

Brilliant. I think I'll go with this.

Name: Anonymous 2011-08-30 13:12

Bitch just went from "name one thing GIMP can't do" to "Implement it yourself". I lol'd. I'd rather eat taco chilli all day than waste my time with the gimp.

WTH are you talking about configuring the window manager. Have you ever used GIMP with gnome on a default installation?

Why would I donate my work for free? I have come to believe that you communists never learned the value of labor because you have never been gainfully employed, which explains why you can spend endless afternoons masturbating to anime and recompiling your kernel. If you had, you would have learned to value your time a little more.

Son, go shave that neckbeard of yours and learn standard technologies like SQL and Visual Basic so that you may go earn some money rather than playing with a toy graphics editor that nobody wants to use anyway.

I read the second sentence and knew that you were going to shit all over your brains with this one. Politics have nothing to do with OSS.

Name: Anonymous 2011-08-30 13:22

>>15
Shitting all over your brains? What is that supposed to mean anyway?

You see, that is why free-source software is free in the first place. With no people skills, these geeks could never hope to monetize their software because they couldn't even speak to an accountant or a lawyer to get their businesses going.

16-bit per pixel ought to be enough for everybody. That includes you, faggot storm.

Open source community cant innovate. They can only copy others design. Linux and Wine are good examples of open source's love for brainless imitation. Other examples are Pingus, Open Transport Tycoon and every single Linux game.

Interface looks ugly and bloated, compared to superior clean Windows 95 style. BTW, Linux fonts are just awful and blurred! And no antialising of window's corners, like in OSX and Vista.

YHBT

Name: Anonymous 2011-08-31 16:14

When I produce exquisite pieces of ART, I don't want eight EXTRA MEGABYTES of worthless
color palettes and paintbrush positioning code!  I just want an Image Editor!!
Not a "GIMPitor".  Not a "Mario Paintitor".  Those aren't even WORDS!!!!
ImageMagick! ImageMagick! ImageMagick IS THE STANDARD!!!

When you code in glorious ASM, all software is open source

Name: Anonymous 2011-09-01 2:51

>>35
the assembler strips away comments, fagnogg

Name: Anonymous 2011-09-01 3:00

>>36
You won't need commented code once you've reached enlightenment.

Name: Anonymous 2011-09-01 5:36

>>37
Good luck without symbolic names.

Name: Anonymous 2011-09-01 5:42

>>38
Real programmers use names like i, j, k, ii, i2, ij, kkk, and so on anyway.

I vomited in my mouth a lot. Please don't do that again.
