``Deep Web'' just refers to documents that are not indexed by search engines due to being password protected or having no known inbound links. It's an ocean analogy: a web crawler is like a fishing boat, it only skims the surface of the web, so the rest is the ``deep web.'' Anybody who tells you it refers to .onion sites or some super secret shit controlled by the Illuminati is just a fucking idiot.
