So I am on PST time (UTC -8), but my browser (Firefox 4.0) is reporting 420 minutes through the getTimezoneOffset() date function. 420 minutes divided by 60 gives me seven hours, so I'm wondering why they don't match. Also, why are the minutes not negative? I would expect it to return -480.

For the record, my system clock is set correctly and other functions like getHours() and getMinutes() work correctly. Is this just a daylight savings time issue? I'm okay with that, but why isn't it negative?

Huh, helpful. I guess this is why the text boards are so popular. Next time I'll be sure to argue about which esoteric programming language is the best so you morons have something to talk about.
