evolutionary prog-ramming

I need to learn quickly how to do AIs. I already understand what are GAs and neural networks. I just need a site with tips and such, how to speed up the evolution, and research on what algorithms are the fastest. This is because what I am currently doing feels a lot like a slightly improved bogosort.
So.. is there anywhere a.. crash course for beginners?
