Python Socket Server

Name: Glycan 2011-04-18 15:33

Hello, anyone.

We have (and will make more) python games. Python is easy to learn, use, and debug. There are also flash portals that get lots of traffic. We want to get that traffic, and our solution goes like this: we run python servers with the games, and put clients on portals. However, being cheapskates, we aren't going to go and actually _buy_  good hosting. 000webhost.com, which is what we're using for the site, has been extremely ambiguous about it, but firm in reverse proportion on the need for premium mebership. Heliohost.org, after about 10 captchas and 5 email verifications, admitted to hosting python servers, but not ones people could connect to. They told me some BS about redirecting traffic to port 80 and being restricted to HTTP, but that's not worth it. Anyways, is there a) anyone who properly hosts socket servers, or b) a way to hack into a proper host, and host from there, or c) make a home connection reliable.

Thanks in advance,
Glycan (on the behalf of Mrizen, but no-one's heard of that to, so it doesn't matter)

PS: Is there a proper tutorial for Twisted? Everything I've found so far is about as useful as the Python official tutorial: A nice reference to someone who knows whats going on, but worse than useless to someone who doesn't know the basics.
