Hello /prog/

1. What a programmer needs to become popular blogger?
2. Do you read blogs, why?
3. What's important for you in posts, what style do you prefer?
4. Do you pay a lot of attention to pictures, diagrams, or code snippets?
5. How do you find valuable blogs?
6. Are you tolerate misspells or grammars mistakes in foreigner's posts?

1. Grammar.
2. No, because most bloggers are just in it for advertising revenue.
3. Original content, insightful writing, and a good ability to determine the audience's needs without begging for feedback.
4. Only if they're useful.
5. Not at all, because most bloggers are just in it for advertising revenue.
6. Yes, unless they are just in it for advertising revenue or are from the Indian subcontinent.

The industry is currently in the Depression stage. Most programmers who can't do much more than use a mutex/critical section are too afraid/ashamed to admit that they don't really understand what's going on. So they'll feign knowledge of concurrency when in reality they're desperately struggling.

The Five Stages of Grief
Denial?"I feel fine."; "This can't be happening, not to me."
Denial is usually only a temporary defense for the individual. This feeling is generally replaced with heightened awareness of positions and individuals that will be left behind after death.
Anger?"Why me? It's not fair!"; "How can this happen to me?"; "Who is to blame?"
Once in the second stage, the individual recognizes that denial cannot continue. Because of anger, the person is very difficult to care for due to misplaced feelings of rage and envy. Any individual that symbolizes life or energy is subject to projected resentment and jealousy.
Bargaining?"Just let me live to see my children graduate."; "I'll do anything for a few more years."; "I will give my life savings if..."
The third stage involves the hope that the individual can somehow postpone or delay death. Usually, the negotiation for an extended life is made with a higher power in exchange for a reformed lifestyle. Psychologically, the individual is saying, "I understand I will die, but if I could just have more time..."
Depression?"I'm so sad, why bother with anything?"; "I'm going to die... What's the point?"; "I miss my loved one, why go on?"
During the fourth stage, the dying person begins to understand the certainty of death. Because of this, the individual may become silent, refuse visitors and spend much of the time crying and grieving. This process allows the dying person to disconnect oneself from things of love and affection. It is not recommended to attempt to cheer up an individual who is in this stage. It is an important time for grieving that must be processed.
Acceptance?"It's going to be okay."; "I can't fight it, I may as well prepare for it."
In this last stage, the individual begins to come to terms with his mortality or that of his loved one.

1. A super charged ego, and no grasp of the subject.
2. Yes, because I'm a gigantic faggot.
3. ALWAYS start with a LOLCAT
4. See above.
5. They must be linked from another blog, preferably with the enticement of COOL FREE RINGTONES
6. Yes, as long as they improve over time. English isn't my first language kind of loses it's touch when you make the same mistake for years.

For those who are incapable of figuring it out for themselves, only 1 and 6 are serious answers

1. Interesting subjects, if you are a beginner programmer, write interesting stuff for beginners and so on. Don't try to appeal to a crowd you don't belong to.

2. No, I don't read any because I have found any worth reading.

3. Well, that's hard to say, just write like you like to write, trying to adapt to something will just make your text to seem forced.

4. Depends if that's what the blog post is about. I really like reading code when it's in shorter snippets as I get to read other people's code, I'm still unable to just jump into a source code, read it and try to understand something.

5. I don't, as I have yet to find one I'm pretty sure that there are either no good blogs or that I'm not very efficient when it comes to finding them.

6. I'm Swedish and I hate it when other misspell things, write with faulty (could you call it that?) grammar and so on.
It's even worse when I realise that I've done that.

1. You have to be an expert at what you write about and generally good content.
2. Yes. To learn and kill time.
3. ??? Original ideas, I guess.
I'm too irritated to continue. These questions are stupid. If you have to make a blog, just make a good one.

which isn't even accessible without a modifier key on most keyboard layouts
On my keyboard ` is just above the Tab key, to the left of 1, and under Escape and it's been there on every layout I've ever used (AFAICR). But it's not like I designed the system to be a replacement for BBCode or anything, so I didn't take into account different layouts.

yours is harder to read
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I quite like the way mine looks but to each their own.

harder to implement, because it doesn't use S-expressions.
This is bullshit, implementing it was piss-easy and only took around 30 lines.

And if yours doesn't do tag iterations, it's less powerful than the one in >>1 as well.
True, I didn't think of that at the time.

Oh, and mine has also the property that the only character you really need to escape is ` - any brackets not preceded by ` are treated as ordinary text. And you can choose which type of brackets to use ((), [], {}, <>), so that you don't have to use a modifier key at all (using `[]).
