So thought i'd kick off a blog to help me get motivated to code... http://postingtons.blogspot.com/

Name: Anonymous 2010-11-23 9:31

why would having an autobiography mean you're successful?

Name: blogington 2010-11-23 9:51

I guess in the back of my mind its always been a goal. The thought that someones life can be interesting enough that it requires a book has somewhat fascinated me.

Name: Anonymous 2010-11-23 9:51

Well, it certainly was boring.

Name: Anonymous 2010-11-23 9:53

And also poorly written.

Name: Anonymous 2010-11-23 9:54

Postingtons, Blogington.
Singleton.
Go back to /java/.

Name: Blogington 2010-11-23 9:56

It has only just started. google-ing around for some tutorial sites now.

Go back to /java/.

Installing java.

I am a fucking wizard.

>>7
Don't use java, learn C or LISP.

Name: Anonymous 2010-11-23 9:59

>>8
don't use LISP, use ANYTHING BUT LISP

Reasoning behind lisp or c?

Name: Anonymous 2010-11-23 10:03

>>10
Where's your verb, you bloody fucking anusboard?

Name: Blogginton 2010-11-23 10:04

Reasoning is a verb (last time I checked)

Name: Anonymous 2010-11-23 10:14

>>10
C is actually useful, LISP opens you the path to Satori (Read SICP).

Name: Anonymous 2010-11-23 10:17

In >>10-kun's post he was using it in the gerund form, and so the sentence did indeed lack a verb

Name: Blogington 2010-11-23 10:27

>>14
I probably should have proceeded it with "what is your..."

Name: Anonymous 2010-11-23 11:48

I've been blogging tons of happenings today!

Name: Anonymous 2010-11-23 12:05

Xarn is an interesting fellow I like, but I find his personal blog posts dull. What makes you think anyone will want to read about some freshman's adventures with Java?

Name: Anonymous 2010-11-23 12:23

>>17
the vast majority of blogs or not worth reading, and most people have nothing worth saying

Name: Anonymous 2010-11-23 12:44

He should probably learn The D Programming Language.

Name: Blogington 2010-11-23 15:20

>>17
I'm not really expecting anyone to. however if someone likes it then i've made a difference in someones life (i'd doubt that would happen.)

A lecturer whose course I doze through couldn't help himself but mention how much he dislikes "Enterprise Netbeans" programming tasks (of course Java is one of the main languages taught at that department) and finds more pleasure in some cleverly optimized algorithms.
/prague/ is my blog
But really now, good luck, OP, for what it's worth.

The lecturers for my other modules all scoff and/or laugh with a half-serious ``Really?'' whenever they hear how little has been covered in the Java module in comparison to their own. As a result, and as they're all co-requisite modules, we end up learning Java twice.

You want this blog to be successful? Go through SICP and post as you progress through it.

Oye!
OP!
The Land to Lisp is a really nice book, I know that you can find it on /prog/ (don't know exactly where though) and reading that will set you on a better path than Java will :).
After that you may wanna check out the Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs (you can find it through Google, it's under the CC license).

If you wanna check out a neat language you could always check out Python too! It'll probably be much easier to code in Python than in Lisp for you as it is more like Java.

Film yourself barging into the 6.001, snatching a hardcover copy of SICP from one of the students and proceeding to masturbate on it, all while loudly singing §§We Conjure the Spirits of the Computer with our Spells'' and staring The Abelson straight in the eyes. I'm sure it will be of more value than your ramblings on Java.

You're a dropout using a mental diagnosis as an excuse and your first move is to install Java? Just stop.

It's going to be the Java version of FrozenVoid.
