Are you claiming people have tried out all these models? There's a lot of them which barely got anything more than some simple software model (while others never got anything further than some quick matlab project). The field itself is rather small with not that many people working on it and not enough resources being invested in it. Just the other month, I remember reading a paper about someone showing how feasible implementing certain new promising models would be, yet few people have actually done so.
And no, I'm not a lab assistant, nor am I an active researcher in this particular domain, although I've been keeping an eye on published books and papers. I don't really have the time, nor the money to be involved in it currently, but I hope to try out some of my ideas in a few years.
