Why do so many people get into flame wars about programming languages and technologies. There are many languages and technologies that I would not enjoy using but that doesn't mean I can't respect and tolerate the views of other people.
Just like with religion, I may see many flaws with certain religions and philosophies. That doesn't mean I shouldn't tolerate and treat them with decency. All you need to realize is that everyone is different and the people, cultures and ideas that someone grows up with will mean they will have some views that disagree with your own.
I'm not saying don't debate and attempt to persuade. Just do it with some civility. Every time you resort to personal attacks and crude generalizations your reputation is weaker. When doing so anonymously the reputation of the whole is weaker.
There are plenty of better arenas to let out that nerd rage.
