So, I'm emerging xorg-server on my newly compiled (still bare bone) Gentoo system and it's taking fucking ages.

What the fuck is happening?

Is it compiling from source or something?

Gentoo is an incompatible piece of shit with no stable releases.  And clearly, you're not happy with your choice in operating systems.  Do you use your computer for any real work or entertainment?  Clearly not, since you have so much time to "customize" it.
