Any /prog/rammers know anything about satellite receiver programming?

I don't know were to being and the usual sat forum is of no help what so ever.

BTW doing this for the lulz. I don't even watch TV any more.

All I know OP, is that SAT broadcasters use a variety of methods of data transmission and data encryption which your receiver must be able to unscramble. At first a simple eeprom coding was enough to unscramble ALOT of them. Now things have changed, Most popular SATs are difficult to unscramble and most don't even let FTA channels through anymore. The most common receiver at the moment is the dreambox which receive key encryption update over the Internet.

That's all I know. I tried to enter into this my self to no avail. Google failed me on that one for sure!
