African programmers

Since you're one of the lesser racist boards on 4chan I have a question. Is it possible for an African to become a successful programmer? And by that I mean, could he become anything more than a code monkey? Would he be able to get hired in the sea of Asians?

If a person takes the time to study a domain, he could be anything, but if the environment doesn't provide him with the opportunity to study a domain, then the chances of him being skilled in that domain are much lower. Draw your own conclusions from that.
