STACKS ARE THE CANCER KILLING PROGRAMMING, SAGE IF YOU AGREE

What I want to know is where this textbook meme came from that makes analogies between abstract data types as concrete objects.  The application is completely extraneous to the abstraction and such an unecessary thing to add, but every introductory text on abstract data types seems to have it.
I wonder who started that.
