Reading an image?

How do you read data from an image/picture?

Do you like translate it to sting or something?

If anyone can link me to some methodologies used in general I would appreciate it!

You can translate an image into an array of pixels where each pixel is usually some sort of pixel object/struct that has values for red, green, and blue or just one value for gray scale images.
