Why should I read SICP?

Just a quick question, why?
/prog/ acts like it's the only thing you'll ever need, and that it's crucial, otherwise you won't get anywhere. I'm just wondering: why should I read it?

Why do people spend millions of dollars on motivational speakers and self help book? Its called abstraction, when you take a step back and take a look at the big picture, you find that a lot of mundane problems disappear if you just take a higher level strategy. Same goes for programming, you abstract thing and all of a sudden a lot of mundane problems go away.
