but the CPU is still what drives most of the process
If by "drives most of the process" you mean "passes the hardware memory pointers to the compressed frame data, reference picture buffers, and destination buffer", then sure.¹

Keep putting words in my mouth. I take overrated to mean exactly what it does. I pointed out that it was in fact understated, which precludes it from being overrated. I never said anything about it being mandatory (although you seem to think that's what the general opinion is: it isn't. However, it is implemented in virtually every DAP on the market.) No one made claims about it being universally better either, but actual qualified arguments about energy efficiency on a particular set of processors.

The fact remains that on these devices a suitable hardware decoder is more energy and processor efficient than software decoders. This isn't overrating them, it's simply true, and I don't recall anyone trying to make a stronger argument anywhere in this thread. When you find a post you can misconstrue in such a way, please don't attribute it to me.

Oh I'm sorry, did I bring up that nasty topic you didn't want to talk about anymore? The one that has been the focus of your entire post? That one?

Keep putting words in my mouth.
I'll soon be putting something else in your mouth, if you get my drift.

Like people have engaging conversations about this topic on /g/. Posting something like this there would likely devolve into trolling instantly and then drift away and 404.

This isn't trolling?

The fact that you disagree with someone doesn't automatically make that person a troll.

She never mentioned family, and I did not ask. I have thought about her timberland mens custom often over the years and how she struggled in a society that places an incredible premium on looks, class, wealth and all the other fineries of life. She suffered from a disfigurement that cannot be made to look attractive. I know that her condition black timberland boots hurt her deeply. http://www.timberland6inch.com/  HYD

Bumping old threads when you have nothing to add? I suppose it would be, if /g/ kept threads for as long as world4ch does.

I'm now wanting to write larger programs, with more moving parts - acquiring data from a variety of different sources, cleaning it, processing it in various ways, displaying it in user interfaces, persisting it, communicating over networks, etc. How could one best structure such code to be legible, maintainable, and adaptable to changing requirements?
