Surprise girls in documentation

Name: Anonymous 2010-04-27 5:26

Why do neckbeards writing technical documentation always have this urge to refer technical people as "she" in their text?
It happens so often an ignorant observer might conclude that computer stuff is a secret girly club no boys allowed.
It always seem so transparent that they mean "WELL SEE HOW I MENTIONED CUNTS HURR I AM SO PROGESSIVE DESPITE BEING ONLY THREE PROVEN WOMEN IN MY FIELD OF EXPERTISE [spoiler]AND ONE OF THEM BEING LEAH CULVER[/i]" with their refusal to use the default "he" or the fancy (and possibly gay) gender-neutral "they".

There's a difference between having poor grammar and using singular ``they''. I use singular ``they'' because it is a somewhat¹ logical extension of the existing plural usage of ``they'' that serves a purpose (gender-neutrality without ⑴ rewriting to use a plural pronoun ⑵ using s/he or ``he or she'' which are PIG DISGUSTING ⑶ alternating ``he'' or ``she'' which just generally rubs me up the wrong way and is distracting).

¹ Insomuch as any part of the English language can be considered so, which is admittedly notsomuch.
