Progress Quest

I really like ProgressQuest. But what I'd really like is native Linux ProgressQuest, with a better variety of progress indicators.
Please, /prog/, what language and library contain your favourite progress spinners / bars / throbbers / etc?

Do you mean to say you're going to write one? In that case it pretty much only depends on the language you plan to use. For Python use wxWidgets, for C++ use Qt, and for C use GTK+.

I like Qt. GTK+ is terrible, and the only language worse than C++ is C trying to be C++.

Why is GTK+ terrible? I've never written a GUI app with GTK+, but I actually quite like GObject. After developing in C++ for many years and having been burned a number of times by its quirks and gotchas, the relatively minor overhead of writing vtables manually seems very much worth it to me. And anyway GObject is functionally much closer to the object systems of languages like Java than C++.

Use Wine

Wine is the default for ProgressQuest on Linux. But, if I'm going to increase the types of progress indicator I may as well create a Linux native binary while I'm at it.
Luckily the programming is trivial; so the important stuff (neat spinners, throbbers, bars, etc) can define what language I chose to use.
Library with most spinny whizzy things is the one I use.

Being an all or nothing kind of guy, my suggestion is Qt or ncurses. Qt may not have the most junk in it (I just don't know) but it certainly has the nicest widgets in town.
Thinking laterally, OpenGL is always an option.

Someone needs to do this, if only to destroy /v/ and /tg/ simultaneously.

I'd do it but I'm not into Trolltech++Qt. I haven't written Sepples in 10 years.

Trolltech totally sounds like something someone just made up for /prog/.

So, uh, is anyone doing this in Qt?
You'd make /g/, /v/, and maybe even /tg/ meltdown.
