There are actually a handful. Both malware and actual file infectors. There's even some file infectors which are relatively common in the wild (as much as file infectors can be common these days - not much), usually spread through infected local root exploit binaries skiddies use.

I wouldn't say either platform is more secure than the either. Unsecure Windows defaults and general dumb userbase makes it seem less secure. Linux is just a kernel by itself, and how secure a linux-based OS depends entirely on the distribution and the administrator.

Yes, and some rootkit detectors too, but why would you need an antivirus to begin with. You don't need one in Linux, nor Windows. If you've ran bad code, you've already lost.
