I think you just came from the imageboards. Threads on dis never die. Never. They exist forever in a state of suspended animation, undead, waiting for either a resurrection to their former glory or the sweet release into the nothingness at the end of time.
It's even more terrible if you use it for a natural purpose; javascript ajax calls.
WSDL's purpose is to create interfaces. json has no equivalent beside informal documents describing an API. This is why I am not using json.
That, and this is a school project where formalism is preferred.

I have to program something in VB for my Computing coursework, and it's pure torture, because even though you can get used to the stupidity of the language, the actual programming section only gives you 25% marks and you get the rest by writing 40 pages of some ENTERPRISE bullshit
