Please explain this shit to me

lol trigraphs

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-13 13:11

Trigraphs work in strings too…‽

Oh, Bjarne, your EXPERT TROLLING is an example to us all.

Yeah, they really should be taken out of the standard.

mAYBE IF YOU TRIED TO UNDERSTAND THE REASON FOR TRIGRAPHS, YOU WOULDN'T BE SO MINDBOGGLINGDY STUPID! oF-FUCKIN-COURSE TRIGRAPHS WORK INSIDE STRINGS, THEY WORK EVERYWHERE BECAUSE TRIGRAPHS ARE THERE FOR RESTRICTED KEYBOARDS. *R*E*T*A*R*D*

It appears you don't realize the reason why they work inside strings either or I would suspect that the pompous ass in you would have divulged it.
The reason, if anyone doesn't already know, is that trigraphs are handled in the C preprocessor. A list is provided for posterity1
>>1
If you want that code to work either escape your question marks or use string concatenation.

Don't proper C compilers have an option for disabling trigraphs completely? It's not like anyone really uses them anymore.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-13 15:08

>>9
I use them in all my code because some compilers might not support advanced characters such as |.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-13 15:19

>>10
Same here.  At the end of a project, I usually do a quick search and replace for all characters that can be represented as a trigraph.

MSVC doesn't even support standard operators.

1) your comment is not related in any way with >>12 so it is nonsense
2) your link is redundant
3) your link is not related to your comment
4) you link to a stupid popular bullshit website that has more to do with social crap than programming. I like those dumbass quotes such as
Anyone can "declare" ones own operators in C.... that is if one is a C compiler guru and has the source code to the C compiler! ;-)
As if that isn't possible with any other language, to define your own features if you modify the compiler source code. Major motherfucking facepalm

Please at least respect the fact that most of us are actually interested in programming and not all the bullcrap the internet has to offer for "programmer wannabees".
