2d game development

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-30 8:25

In school we started to learn how to write 2d games using the c++ libraries Allegro adn SDL. Now, I was wondering which library is more suited for writing 2d games? And are there not lots of other libraries out there, are any of those better?

I am basically asking what libraries is most suited for writing 2d games because I don't want to be thoought some lame method in school so that I will have to get used to another way later in my life because what I was thought wasn't good.
Now I will most certinaly have to learn more and perhaps something else later on anyway, but you might understand that I don't want to study something useless.

Now, we don't need to argue over what languages that are best. C++ still is a language that works and if he wants to use it, let him.

And regarding the english, is it still not understandable? If it is, then I wouldn't call it horrible.

You will scare off the new-fags like that you know, but that might be what you wanted after all.
