Plates and bowls leaking

I have these bowls and plates and when I microwave them for longer then a minute, they leak chemicals and smell.  They say they're microwave safe on the back of them.  Are they okay to eat hot food off of?

Don't you think /prog/ is a bit too advanced to be fixing your faulty microwave? Are they plastic, because everyone knows that you can't microwave plastic.
