Are you aware of drawing tablets? The only thing in which paper differs from electronic editting is the different medium the data is in; books versus hard drives. It is much better to use the latter, because we can reduce a lot of tree-cutting this way.

Education should all be moved to electronic form for this reason. There's millions of books created worldwide every year for students.

The pros of electronic writing/drawing overweight their cons and the pros of paper.

Electronic is just not as practical for rough design work, especially when spread out amongst several different sheets/files. Multiple monitors helps to a degree, but doesn't fix the problem.
Books on the other hand and reference material should all be Electronic, although I must admit I like the feel of a book in my hands that the kindle etc. can't quite match.
