Costing

So i'm butthurt over i project i'm being forced to do for college (via an outside company).

I'd like to have some retaliation for the inevitable argument that will happen tomorrow - WHY HAVE YOU NOT PROGRAMMED THIS LIKE SOMEONE WITH 20 YEARS OF SCHEME?

I'm basically taking old dbf files, converting them to mysql and then building queries in Php and integrating the output into fancy tables and put into the companys existing site layout.

How would ye professional /prog/rammers cost this project?

Expected time-frame - 6 weeks
40 hours per week
Basically thrown a database and told a few quesries they already run on it.
Left on own to learn about the db(the system is from 1984 >.<), then build a prog to transfer, the php it up.

My problem is not the difficulty, etc... it's the AMOUNT of work involved and then constant pressure to finish and 'install' it asap.

I'd like to have a ballpark figure to fuck at these guys and say - "if you had paid X, you would have it to such a level. But for me doing it for free, this is the level it's at. Without financial renumeration or motivation I will in my fuck bust my nuts and waste my time for you."

that was rude! ive contacted the forum administrators.

That sounds like about two weeks work. I'd estimate four. 160 hours times a billing rate of say 50 USD gives $8000. Adding two grand for dealing with their lies and bullshit (project management) gives $10000.

This is an estimate for freelancer without warranty, professional indemnity insurance or support. It would likely be at least twice this for anyone they can call up and whine about stuff after work is completed.

OP here, cheers man. It'd be in euros, but how-and-ever haha

The 'project management' aspect is the reason i'm butthurt... gyah. Constant pressure and 'NOWNOWNOW' aspect is a pain.

It would take you guys that long to convert a few databases and rewrite already existing queries to conform to the new database? Get the fuck out of here.

Anti-arson is against the lawl.

OP, did you show them how putting everything into a database "null" can make their data entry so much more fun?

Only in some countries.

I suggest OP just writes a virus called ``VIRUS_CDEF'' that takes fractions of a cent from every transaction on the database and deposits them to his account.
