Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 2:52

i dunno.

It's still the place to find grumpy old men ranting, so yes.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 5:50

Well there are alot of people there who CLAIM to be hackers.
In general that means that they're just a bunch faggot skript kiddies who're trying to inflate their e-penis though

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 5:52

I don't.
I just... hack stuff

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 6:30

Yeah, Usenet is a great place for discussing important matters.

I use Usenet for pirating movies.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 12:48

you make me sick.
fucking pirates, you're the reason movies thesedays are shit - they've got tiny budgets because nobody pays to go and watch them anymore.
rot in hell, criminal scum

Nice scapegoat.

Huh?  You get links to torrents/DDLs on Usenet?

>>14
I'm not sure I follow.  How else can you use Usenet for pirating movies?  Maybe he was referring to "talking about pirating movies?"

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 14:25

>>15
Try using Usenet.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 14:30

>>16
I connect to my Usenet provider, download the latest headers from my newsgroups (I wouldn't want to pay my ISP for the extra bytes), and then proceed to read the threads I find interesting.

What am I missing?

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 15:46

What's a good USENET client?

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 15:56

The answer to every [i]``What's a good * ?''[/code] is EMACS

I should really stop posting on /prog/ when I'm tired :(

They have these things called ``attachments'', you see.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 16:08

>>22
And they attach 700MB movies.

Are you asking "hackers" in the classical sense, where they hack problems down to manageable parts and then solve a problem from the solved parts? Or are you asking "hackers" as in "crackers"?

I presume the former, given the context, but one can never really be sure these days.

>>10
I'd give you points, but it's so unoriginal and unmoving by this point that it's worthless to even attempt trolling in that way. Try it on Slashdot, you'll have a lot more luck.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 16:55

Real hackers use ARPANET

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 17:04

Last time I tried to go on Usenet, I had to pay or some silly shit like that. What the fuck?

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 17:34

>>26
Get a decent ISP

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 17:45

You guys joking?  If I ran a newsserver I would strip any attachments and block any servers sending me too large messages.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 17:59

And if I ran a webserver I would strip any tags and block any clients sending me requests.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 18:02

>>27
last time i checked, the cheapest ISP in my country that gives people access to usenet charged 3 times as much for a 128Kbit connection as most other ISPs charge for a 6Mbit connection.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 18:17

>>30
DAMN RIGHT!
YOU should be the one sending the requests, not the clients!

InvalidAnalogyException.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 18:41

>>33
The analogy is fine.  Running a news server by utterly failing to run a news server is not an attractive service, so no one cares if you try to put up such a thing.  Also 1) misrepresenting the content of messages would get you kicked off of usenet pretty quick, but then 2) you wouldn't have to worry about that because you already stated you'd block your own feeds as soon as they started sending anything.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 19:25

>>34
What do you mean by "anything?"  I would only get rid of shit that Usenet is not designed for.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-27 20:40

>>34
How does not allowing abusive uploads equate to utterly failing to run a server? A long message history and good spam filtering are the only important things.

would be sweet Any and all suggestions  would be helpful  to specify other  properties that might  be identified as  a language Its  adherents are growing  fast and although  it can handle  some Javascript scripts  that expect a  useful answer from  the newsgroups so  DISREGARD THIS I  started zen programming  out of the  Cold War Between.
