dvd ripping under GNU/Linux

I've tried to user dvdbackup, but actually I'd like to get a compressed divx instead of a dvd copy. Can you halp?

dvd::rip is pretty good. It is written in Perl, though, so it only rips movies that have punctuation characters in the title. Nonetheless, it's a fantastic program if you've got DVDs like Dude, Where's My Car?, Airplane!, Face/Off, Mission: Impossible, i ♥ huckabees, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, I, Robot, and Repo! The Genetic Opera.
