It's possible to kill (properly handle and return to usermode sucessfully) the Blue Screen of Death. It's usually caused by an exception in kernel mode leading to a call to nt!KeBugCheckEx which displays the error, however doing so for unknown threads may lead to system instability or even worse things, for example in Windows 9x series, you could continue from a BSoD by pressing any key except Ctrl+Alt+Del, but not in all cases it would be possible to actually resume your work if a critical thread or process crashed, and it may lead to subsequent crashes or freezes.
