On benchmarks its on par with C++ and even lower on memory.
Why isn't it used much?

People enjoy putting semicolons at the end of their sentences too much.

you meant "putting braces around their sentences", yes?

While I can't speak for anyone else, I don't use Pascal because it is stupidly limited, pedantic, annoyingly verbose, makes superfluous use of colons and capital letters, requires extra work to use any system library at all, and because of all these things, it's also unpopular (and rightly so) - thus it is poorly supported in development environments.

In short, it's a complete pile of month-old dog shit.

Perhaps the same could be said of..wait, i think it would an excellent copypasta.

While I can't speak for anyone else, I don't use Sepples because it is stupidly limited, pedantic, annoyingly verbose, makes superfluous use of semicolons and templates, requires extra work to use any form of meaningful abstraction, and because of all these things, it's also unpopular (and rightly so) - thus it is poorly supported in development environments.

In short, it's a complete pile of month-old dog shit.

Pascal is uncool, just like Basic. Microsoft had to take VB and change its syntax to something C (well, Java I guess) -like (creating C#) for people to take it seriously.

Oh yeah, like anyone's gonna fall for Microsoft Visual Pascal. What's next Microsoft Visual Befunge?

Microsoft Pascal was an implementation of the Pascal programming language that was developed by the Microsoft Corporation for compiling programs for running on its MS-DOS operating system and, in later versions, on OS/2 (like many other Microsoft programming tools) (albeit they were only capable of generating 16-bit programs for the latter).

Microsoft Pascal version 3.2 was released in 1986. The last version of Microsoft Pascal to be released was version 4.0 in 1988, when Microsoft Pascal was superseded by (the somewhat short-lived) Microsoft QuickPascal, a cheaper development tool that Microsoft produced in order to compete with Borland's Turbo Pascal. Microsoft Pascal was priced at around $400, whereas QuickPascal was priced between $25 and $50, and the differences between the two were similar to those between Microsoft BASIC Professional Development System and Microsoft QuickBASIC.

Unlike the ISO compliant Microsoft Pascal product, QuickPascal went after the ultimate compatibility with Turbo Pascal. This included not only source-level compatibility, but rather complete binary compatibility with widely available unit libraries for the competitor's compiler. To achieve this level of compatibility, QuickPascal moved away from the common file format (OBJ) and tool set (LINK, LIB) shared by Microsoft's other compilers.

People don't know that Sepples is horrible. And if you tell them, they won't want to believe you.

Actually, I think you can speak for everybody.

I have written programs in Pascal. I would not do it again.

Yes but VB.NET is the best of the bunch out of VB.NET, C# and managed C++.

stupidly limited, pedantic
Too blatant. You need to put a little more effort into it.

Into what? The truth?

Sorry to hurt your feelings, but Pascal is crap. Get a better favorite language.
