Halp (Tripcode Explorer incorrect keys)

Tripcode Explorer's keys aren't providing the right result when I post to 4chan. I know it was developed for 2ch, but I've been told it's useful for 4chan as well -- is there some option I have to change? Was there a change in algorithm?

Also note I'm no tripfag - anon is anon for a reason. I sometimes, however, like to use a tripcode in some threads where it's imperative to identify myself as the OP - I change these just about every thread that I do so in, but would like to make them humorous in nature if at all possible. Tripper+ works, but it's much slower.

Now to wait for flames, and hope at least one reply (if any are made) is neither flame nor troll.

tripcodes are broken on 4chan.
you can get some of them to work by figuring out what bytes would be used to represent the string in shift-jis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shift-JIS) and then figuring out if it's possible to turn it into a valid utf-8 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTF-8) string, and then decoding it as utf-8.
this tripcode, for example, has 'I｣' in it, which in shift-jis is 0x49 0xA3. since the I isn't the second or third character, you can replace it with 0xC9, resulting in the sequence 0xC9 0xA3, which in utf-8 represents the character 'ɣ'.
