When we asked Julie Sussman, P.P.A., to serve as a technical copyeditor for /prog/, we did not know what a good deal we were getting. In addition to copyediting the technical content, Julie enthusiastically edited our prose. It is humbling to think of how many errors Julie found in our earlier drafts, though considering how many errors she found in /prog/ (after it was read, unfortunately), it is not surprising. Moreover, Julie sacrificed her own schedule to accommodate ours-she even brought chapters with her on a trip to the Virgin Islands! Julie, we cannot thank you enough for the amazing job you did.

Swiss programming language Conspriacy

I am the only one noticng the swiss seem to be ❝hyperintelligent❞ beings when it comes to programming languages?
There's clearly been an alien intervention in this nordic hemisphere. They are also taking over the world using the stock market!

the question we all must ask yourself, is how can we stop it with lambda, and what would sussman do?

Invisible control structures.
No way to write compact code.
Code will be mangled and corrupted by many editors/websites/forms/parsers.

I just realised that Win and UNIX handle newlines differently and thus screw FIOC code haha

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-23 16:39

I've been using Python for years and I don't know what the fuck you guys are talking about. FIOC has never been an issue.

brackets {} are too 1337 for python, but parenthesis() are fine.

I just masturbated to a picture of the SUßMAN and thus screw FIOC code haha

People who whine and complain about indentation are fucking newbs who have not done any serious programming work in their professional careers who don't realize how insignificant differences in syntax like indentation style or brackets are.

TABS VS SPACES, MOTHERFUCKER.
and can you tell the various unicode whitespace characters apart just by looking at a bunch of them in a row?

>>15
If you're mixing tabs and spaces in the same code, you're doing it wrong. No, I can't tell different unicode whitespace characters apart. What the fuck would they be doing in your code outside of some unrealistic hypothetical example you pulled out of your ass to tell off some anon on a message board?

People who don't vary their indentation style and brackets as the situation demands are the noobs.  Noob.

People who think that situations demand fucked-up indentation are asshats.
