So I have to pay for some course literature. Concepts of Programming Languages and Java Programming: Advanced Topics. The former seems ok, but the latter seems like a waste of money. It also costs about $92, where the former costs about $66. So what do you do when faced with the forced purchase of ENTERPRISE literature? I was hoping to find a place to download CS ebooks, but none of the trackers I've searched have any of the stuff I need.
So what do you do when faced with the forced purchase of ENTERPRISE literature?
A few courses on my (otherwise pretty ok) CS degree have used ENTERPRISE-quality textbooks. The simple solution is: don't buy them. I got enough information to be able to bullshit my way through those courses and get good grades by spending a couple of hours reading poorly-written Wikipedia articles about best practices, abstract factory factories, and leveraging synergies. Those big tomes of crap are simply not worth your time and money.
Fuck who buys programming and computer science textbooks. Just torrent one of the books that actually don't suck and use it. Course can go screw itself.

With the exception of graphics extensions (OpenGL, DirectX) and rare languages, there's really nothing programming-related you can find in a book that you can't easily find online. Books are helpful, but not $50 helpful. Get a torrent or google java tutorial.

The main problem with those fucking books isn't the content, but the problems inside them that have been assigned.
Nothing makes me RAGE more than problems assigned from a shitty textbook.
