I am currently deployed in iraq, and i want to build a first person shooter while i am here as large hobby project. I am having trouble figuring out what platform to go with, i am sort of leaning towards XNA. I have background in programming, but not in anything good for programming 3d games with direct x (ASP, vbscript, javascript, ajax etc) my problem is i dont have alot of time to sit down and learn a language, and i think if i had a starting point like one level of the game with comment code i could go from there... I am looking for decent graphics and the abillity to advance the game in the future so i need a good platform, thus i think xna looks the best, because it could be used on the xbox in the future. The main criteria i am looking for is:
Good graphics / direct x
The ability to choose different characters
- easily add characters (i use 3d studio max)
- The ability to choose weapons
- Levels can be made in 3d studio max
- Good commenting so i can learn this, as this is a hobby for me
Windows XP & windows vista supported
