Actually, we're tiny, and I'm the senior developer for internal development (there's another senior developer in the company but he's not writing code). This is why I like it: I get to do a lot of things in every part of the development cycle iterations, I get to take a lot of decisions, and I can discuss anything with my boss (who, surprisingly, almost incredibly, knows what he's talking about, gets to the gory details, and trusts my judgement when I make sense). I love small companies: instead of ENTERPRISE BEST PRACTICES TURNKEY PROFESSIONAL SCALABLE SOLUTIONS, I get to do real R&D, and my work can be as varied as to teach class for a week, install a production server the next day, then back to work on one of the two big projects I'm into. Moreover, we're developing a "not done here" syndrome which means we get to do almost everything, so we can't get bored with a single project.
