Mac OS X FTP shit

so.... why does Mac OS X implement ftp as read only? what would it take to get real FTP running?

http://cyberduck.ch/ is open source and does sftp and ftp.  i think the ftpfs has been ported to MacFUSE in case you can't script cyberduck but ftpfs isn't that great anyway.

Transmit is a personal favorite but you will have to buy it. It's made by Panic, though; that and Coda are the only software I ever bought after stealing.

Cyberduck is good too though.

YummyFTP is rather good. I tried about every single FTP client for OS X, hated all of them. After trying 10 FTP clients, I actually liked YummyFTP. That surprised me so much I even bought it.
