Programming in C with Gobject is pretty shitty, with all those macros. Why didn't they choose Objective-C?

Actually, nobody uses it for the same reason nobody uses Smalltalk: no decent free implementation of the development environment. Which is ironic, since Objective-C's OO is lifted directly from Smalltalk.
