I want to program NES games. I'm not experienced at all with any language. What should I begin with? I've been told BASIC or C before I get into anything with assembly.
The only reason to do NES programming these days would be to have an simple environment in which to practice an assembly language.
If you're going to do use a high-level language anyway, you might as well do it on a computer, maybe with C and a good sprite library.

Just do 6502 assembler. Any other language on a small system like the NES will get in the way.
