WTF is "symbolic programming"?

Name: Anonymous 2008-04-01 21:35

Many universities have a "symbolic programming" course, and a search for the term returns 22,500 results on Google, but Wikipedia doesn't have an article for it and I can't find a description anywhere.

So, does /prog/ know what symbolic programming is?

NO EXCEPTIONS.

See, when I write a program, it's like an image of society, because the higher level classes are always bossing the low level classes around, and when the program reads in resources it's kind of like exploiting the earth in blind, ruthless worship of capitalism.
The last program I worked on had a spinlock that represented Jesus. I used twelve levels of indentation, because that's how deep my program was, man.

See, when I write a program, it's like an image of utopia, because the cooperative threads do not forcefully lose control, and when the program communicates internally it's kind of like voluntary direct democracy, truly anarchist.
The last program I worked on had a shared abstract data structure that represented the Sussman. I used 28 closing parentheses in a row, because that's how perfect my program was, man.
