Windows API in C/C++

Help, I have no idea how to correctly use the API to create windows and fill them with text and shit.

Give me information, tutorials, etc.

I just built both those programs, and the WPF executable is smaller by almost a factor of 2.

HelloWin32 = 7.50 KB (7,680 bytes)

HelloWPF = 4.00 KB (4,096 bytes)

So, which is the crappier?
