My College Teaches C instead of Java

C++ for a short period of time to teach OO concepts

Is This Awesome?

DON'T ANSWER HIM

My college teaches C++, C, ASM, PERL, and JAVA.

My college > your college.

oh, i forgot SCHEME and SQL, also.

No, learning C is easier than learning about algorithms.
Your college should use scheme to teach about algorithms instead.
But yeah, at least it's not Java

The only colleges I know that still teach C are the shitty community college-esque places in my country. Decent places start with either Java or C++ here - not that I agree with the teaching method, it is just an interesting coincidence...

oshi- SQL?! You're hardcore, man.

Most of the course is based around algorithms, it is heavily based on theory, and how to actually fucking design and thinking like a programmers instead of just memorizing JAVA libraries.

``Your country"? Enjoy your ENTERPRISE READY Indian shit school

Any decent C programmer can pick up Java in a couple of days, and write better code than a Java Programmer with 5 years experience. Seriously, its not that hard, and horribly, HORRIBLY bloated.

BTW, any of those languages and more can be learned later after the ``core" curriculum. After finishing the core stuff you can specialize in whatever you want, from databases to information security. And most colleges teach ASM regardless.

C can just as easily teach algorithms as Scheme can. Its better since C is actually fucking used in Engineering (since I plan on going into EE anyways)

My college teaches C++, C, ASM, PERL, JAVA, SCHEME, SQL, PYTHON, STANDARD ML, RUBY, LOGO and probably more I don't know about

My college > your college.

OSHI- MATLAB WATCH THE FUCK OUT

Srsly, once you learn C, how to do OO, if you're program was any good everything else isn't difficult to pick up.

You have to get close to the machine to achieve Satori. After that, languages no longer matter.

I love seeing arrogant self-proclaimed expert programmers hit a brick wall whenever they try to learn haskell. Warms my heart everytime :-)

I do not know, nor do I care to, what exactly the opposite of Satori is.  But you have reached it.

How can one who has never traveled distant and exotic busspaces be anywhere near Satori?
