vim help

I have a recording (the one that you make with q and use with @) that does some changes to a line and moves down to the next one. Is there an easier way to use the recording on a section of a file than to manually figure out how many lines you want to change and use that as a count for the @ command positioned at the beginning of the section?

Use EMACS.

This is rather funny, because I have never seen an ``EMACS help'' thread on /prog/. Conclusion: EMACS creates no such problems OR EMACSERS are smart enough to cope with them themselves OR vimmers are stupid.
