Macs are very much in the dominant position when it comes to
development work and it’s not hard to see why. From every point
of view, they are the best platform available. The smart
developers are using Macs.

It's true, though. Leopard may be Apple's version of Vista with HUGE GAPING USABILITY FLAWS, but it's still a GUI on top of a UNIX system (the best one available so far). Can't add a printer on a SMB share properly? Point your browser to http://localhost:631/ and use CUPS directly. Samba doesn't like your network? Edit /etc/smb.conf.

Everything that requires me to use Linux can be done in OS X. In fact, the only time where I really needed Linux, it turned out to be faster to rewrite the assembly part of the code that was screwing up than getting highly unstable "we just released this 2 days ago and we never tested it lol" drivers for my wifi card to work under Linux.

    Whoa, stop that won't ya?

Before I type out my long ranting a few information about me
you should all be aware of.
I have been browsing 4chan ab initio; I was one of the first
to post on /prog/. (hi Jukin :-)
Back in the day we used to babble about realistic issues and
real-world programming posting quality code and giving this
shithole a reason to exist.

/prog/ was a helpful board ex vi termini! Would you monsters
dare to imagine that? Foolish trolls, you disgust me. All you
do currently is spout nonsense and unfunny memes, while you
have another debate about esoteric functional languages perhaps
to satisfy your ego and perhaps defend your corrupted reality.
Wake up from this torpor. But that is not applicable here,
you enjoy the illusion that you are part of an obscure clique
posting on a shambolic bbs-like system, don't you?

Has it come to this? Post nothing but references to an obsolete
textbook? Please do not wonder why most reasonable people have
abandoned this preternatural madness, this cesspool filled with
pretentious feces -- you.

Please, for once perhaps in your whole lifetime, admit your ways
of doing things is by far not correct. Not everyone here is endemic
to programming. Pedantry whilst being technically accurate actually
is of no help at all to anyone but perhaps you. In all honesty, the
minutiae of an academic paper are of no interest to the average Joe.

I only posted this to warn you of this parlous armageddon. It takes
courage to realise this is only the mendicant. It's of no wonder that
pusillanimous rhymes with anonymous. A trope; I don't think so.

I hope there are still some here that remember the pulchritudinousness
of this once-full-of-manque-posters board. I hope my animadversion does
not surprise you. One would observe that you codigned it all the way.

Absum.

Expert trolling.

Also, if you're going to use an external text editor to post on prog, turn off the FORCED WORD WRAP OF THE TEXT. Our browsers can do word wrap just fine.

You remind me of this guy I used to know at university, who would smugly sit in the bar each night with his palmtop computer, writing crap fiction about the lands of elves and dwarves, sipping his cans of Fanta while trying to chat up the barmaid who hated him. He'd stand near her room late at night looking into the window to catch a glimpse. He fat, nerdy form reeked of body odour (he would leave smell trails around the computer science department, which was malodorous anyway) and was pig disgusting.

Anyway. The reason you remind me of him is that he would speak to everyone in a very similar style to yours - always irritatingly smug and superior, looking down on everyone else as if they were somehow beneath him.

All things considered, it was pretty fucking funny.
