Nonsense. When someone posts a message or sends me an e-mail (from a Mac)
in which they have typed Option-Bracket followed by Shift-Option-Bracket, I
see quotation marks on my monitor, as I should. ISO-blah blah is irrelevant
to me. Furthermore the use of the term ³curly quotation marks² as a
descriptive term for the subject symbol is also nonsense, for there are no
other kinds of quotation marks except the so-called ³curly² quotation
marks. Any other symbols are not quotation marks.
I have only myself to blame for jumping into this thread in the first
place. I normally only discuss linguistics, grammar, orthography, and the
like with persons whom I know to be like me; fluent speakers, readers, and
writers of seven or more languages, at least four of which do not use the
Roman system of writing.
