halp with /usr/local/bin/ld

/usr/local/bin/ld: unrecognized option '--hash-style=both'
/usr/local/bin/ld: use the --help option for usage information

Why is gcc passing an unrecognised option? Lolwut? I'm just passing gcc -o name -x c name.c

Passing -c or -S gives no errors, so the problem must be with my gcc's linking.
