Ah, got it.  For reference to the future, Firefox 2x.xxx is retarded and draws the [aa][s] ... [/s][/aa] strikethrough as wide/tall enough that it completely covers the lowercase text, making it appear like spoiler text that doesn't unspoiler on mouseover.
