Name: Anonymous 2007-11-08 22:05

if the user gives me the name of a file, how do i establish a connection/begin working with the file itself? sorry if this sounds stupid but i has no textbook and my professor spent only about ten seconds on this in lecture while i was looking the other way. (a multitude of internets to whoever knows)

If don't understand what >>5's link has to do with this, you need to get out now. I'm seriously not trolling or anything. This is a fucking basic aspect of Java.

The first step is to clear your mind.

Now close your eyes imagine the file. Imagine yourself with the file. Together, in harmony.

Feel the file. Feel it flowing through your body.

You have now established a connection with the file.

I will be the nice one. You cannot establish a connection to a file. A file is not a socket. It is not a remote server. It is not the girlfriend who dumped you because you are an idiot. You open a file. In Java, you open an InputFileStream to the file. This is the only way you can gain input from a file.

Wait. I can't believe that they're actually using the word "connection" there. Dumbasses. That's Sun for you. Well, If you actually read what >>5 so generously and benevolently offered for your enlightment, you would never have written >>6.

What have we learned here: don't stare at the boobs of the girl next to you while the teacher is lecturing.
