Ruby 1.8.6

I downloaded ruby interpreter 1.8.6, installed it, and any ruby code i run just shows a cmd screen for 1/1000 second, and crashes.

if i even try to put a 'gets' statement in there, it doesnt prompt me for it.

any idea?

OP is taking a course on RoR, so in 10 weeks i can abandon hope for the language.
until then i have to try to get this fucking interpretor working
